{"id":881,"date":"2023-07-06T17:17:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-06T17:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/maslabor.criticaldev.site\/2023\/07\/06\/h-2b-prevailing-wage-update-effective-712023\/"},"modified":"2026-03-13T13:29:27","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:29:27","slug":"h-2b-prevailing-wage-update-effective-712023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/maslabor.com\/es\/2023\/07\/06\/h-2b-prevailing-wage-update-effective-712023\/","title":{"rendered":"H-2B Prevailing Wage Update Effective 7\/1\/2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"sqs-html-content\">\n<p class=\"sqsrte-large\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--lightAccent\"><strong>The wage rate for previously certified job orders remains the same<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Over the holiday weekend, the Department of Labor (DOL) published its annual update to its <a href=\"https:\/\/flag.dol.gov\/wage-data\/wage-search\" target=\"_blank\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--black\">Wage Library<\/span><\/a> effective (July 1, 2023).<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">Note:&nbsp;The update applies only to new 2023 fall\/winter or 2024 Spring Job Orders for which a 9141 Prevailing Wage Determination has not yet been issued. The wage rate for previously certified job orders remains the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">As with prior years, we continue to see some wages increase depending on occupation and worksite area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\"><span class=\"sqsrte-text-color--lightAccent\"><strong>Why such a big change in the wages from one year to the next?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">All data is reviewed by U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) staff at both the state and federal level. Because the data is created from a sample of employers, rather than a required census, there are several possible explanations for anomalies in the data:<\/p>\n<ul data-rte-list=\"default\">\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">When comparing data from the recent update to previous years data, a primary reason for differences may be the redefinition of the geographic areas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The data may have been calculated using a smaller or larger geographic area depending on the number and size of respondents in each area.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p class=\"\" style=\"white-space:pre-wrap;\">The mix of high paying to low paying employers who were sampled, or who responded may have shifted.
