The days are shorter. The tables are longer.
Turkey. Ham. A mountain of mashed potatoes. The crudité platter nobody touches until the cheeseboard runs dry. Every holiday season, our tables fill with the best of the harvest. Pumpkin pie. Apple-cranberry cobbler. Enough to share with everyone who walks through the door. Beautiful.
So, here’s the question. Who grew it?
Behind every holiday spread is a farmer, a crew, and very often an H-2A guest worker. Skilled people who travel legally work a full season, and harvest, pack, and process the food on your plate. Every sweet potato has a story, and it starts in the field. másLabor is proud to serve American agriculture and the U.S. businesses that keep our tables full.
SAWA Isn’t Seasoning
On June 30, 2026, House Committee on Agriculture Chair Glenn Thompson introduced the Securing Agriculture’s Workforce Act (SAWA), a bill to modernize the H-2A visa program by expanding access beyond seasonal work, reforming and stabilizing wages, and adding flexibility in program administration. It arrived with the backing of more than 400 agricultural groups and nearly 50 congressional co-sponsors.
The kicker? If passed, it would be the first major revision of the H-2A program since 1986. Let that simmer. Your grandmother’s gravy recipe has been updated more recently.
AEWR: Not a Yoga Pose
The Adverse Effect Wage Rate is the minimum hourly wage the Department of Labor requires H-2A employers to pay, set by region, designed to protect U.S. workers’ wages. For growers, labor is often the biggest line item on the books. When AEWR is unpredictable, planning is unpredictable. When planning is unpredictable, family farms make hard calls. Predictable wages mean predictable seasons. Predictable seasons mean food on the shelf.
Food Security Is National Security
A nation that can’t feed itself depends on someone who can. Every unfilled harvest position is a crop at risk, a price that climbs, a supply chain that stretches thinner. H-2A is the only temporary visa program designed specifically for agricultural work in the U.S. It isn’t a loophole. It’s a lifeline.
Where másLabor Stands
Filed. Recruited. Vetted. Season after season, nationwide.
And when our clients told us uncertainty about the recruitment side cost them sleep, we didn’t write a memo. We built másMX. Our Mexico-based recruitment entity, with offices in Monterrey and Tampico, was born entirely as a solution: to keep seasonal operations on schedule and growers focused on growing.
That’s the mission. Solution-driven. Client-first. Standing with our clients. Serving America.
See You in Las Vegas
We’re heading to the National Council of Agricultural Employers (NCAE) Ag Labor Forum, December 2-4, 2026. Catch our SVP & General Counsel Tom Bortnyk on stage. What happens in Vegas this year shouldn’t stay in Vegas. It should go straight to Capitol Hill.
How You Can Get Involved
Call your representative. Ask where they stand on SAWA.
Tell your story. Lawmakers remember a grower with a name and a harvest far longer than a statistic.
Show up. NCAE, state ag associations, local Farm Bureau meetings. Seats at the table go to people who pull up chairs.
Thank a farmer. At dinner. Aloud. Between the second and third helping.
Meaningful reforms haven’t happened in decades. That changes when we hold our elected officials accountable, together. Planning your next H-2A season? Talk to the másLabor team today or book a meeting with us to learn more. Your crew. Your season. Our commitment.
másLabor. Standing with our clients. Serving America.
